We’ve teamed up with local Lowland Walking Leader Sarah Price from Walk Hay to create two personalised walking routes you can enjoy right from your tent door. You’ll find maps and instructions in the communal tent, or just ask us to email you a copy.

Looking for more of a challenge? There are plenty of iconic peaks nearby — Skirrid, Blorenge, Sugar Loaf, and the Cat’s Back are all within a 30-minute drive and perfect for a day of adventure.

The benefits of wild swimming are becoming better known as the sport continues to grow in popularity. Experience the buzz and exhilaration of cold-water swimming at two beautiful local spots.

Keeper’s Pond, high on the slopes of the Blorenge, offers breath taking views as you swim. For a more tranquil experience, try a river swim at Skenfrith, just behind the castle — a peaceful and scenic spot with a touch of history.

Dirt Farm is just a short drive away and offers a variety of exciting downhill mountain bike trails for thrill-seekers.

Prefer road cycling? Two National Cycle Network routes are easily accessible. Follow Route 42 for a scenic ride to Hay-on-Wye, or explore the historic castles of Grosmont and Skenfrith along Route 46.

The Golden Valley is said to have the highest concentration of castle structures in Europe! Skenfrith, Grosmont and White Castle are on the Three Castles loop and are all free to enter. 

The Big Pit is over in Blaneavon and offers an immersive look into life on a coalmine, with trips underground down into the mines.

Rowlestone Court Farm is a lovely ice cream café that’s perfect for families. Little ones can enjoy the playground, while older kids (and adventurous adults!) can explore the woodland walk, complete with climbing frames and a zip line for added fun.

No trip to Herefordshire would be complete without a visit to a cider maker! Just 10mins into our neighbouring village of Rowlestone, you'll find Ty Gwyn Cider. Taste their delicious ciders and perrys, whilst browsing the local produce and gifts available to buy. 

They are now also open Friday and Saturday evenings till 10pm and regularly have pop up food vendors - check out their Facebook for up to date listings.
